FAQs
Let's get down to the nitty gritty! Who would this membership benefit? What support will I have? What's the time commitment involved?
Why should I buy this membership?
What kind of educator and student is this for?
Is this an all encompassing curriculum?
I know the life of a teacher very well. I've spent well over fifteen years in the progressive and public-school setting, preparing for students, making the most creative, heartfelt, and successful lessons that teach kids to love to learn. When I have the freedom to teach how I want to in my classroom, creativity abounds, students' smiles are automatic. They are engaged and in love with coming to school. And they are learning difficult material with ease. How is this accomplished? By spending oodles and oodles of my free time developing unique lessons to make the learning the best it can be. By thinking about just the right activity that will make a connection, a spark. With a membership to Teachers Inspiring Students, you don't have to spend all of your weekends and vacation planning that perfect unit. It's done for you without any work on your end!
Educators who have the flexibility to teach based on student interests, such as those in the progressive or homeschool setting are who this program is designed for. Do you have students who love nature? Who love to learn through doing projects? Kids who thrive using multiple intelligences? Do you have flexibility in your schedule to teach projects so students can get a deep understanding of how our world is connected? Do you have the freedom to teach how you want? If you answered yes to these questions, this is the perfect match for you and the bonus is, you don't have to give up your weekends anymore because I've done the work for you! If you are a teacher who is slammed with state test prep, this may not be the best choice for you, unless you have some time during your week dedicated to projects.
This is not a complete curriculum. It does not include every specific skill of state or core standards for example, for English, math, science or social studies. I don't go into the depths of particular skills for each subject. You should still plan on teaching core subjects. It does however, take skills in various subject areas and blend them seamlessly to entice students to learn about various topics they would naturally be curious about and may not get in a traditional curriculum. You will see larger themes in these lessons, like connecting to the world, nature, innovation, and so much more. This is the kind of learning that kids LOVE! The kind they don't get enough of, and the kind that they NEED!
What kind of time commitment does this require?
Teachers Inspiring Students is really flexible. In the optimal case, it would be great to have a designated project time of 1-2 hours three times a week depending on the lesson. However, it can easily work with more or less time than that. Students tend to really get invested into this work and want to continue, so allowing for more time is wonderful. Another option may be to spend a large chunk of time once a week, like a full morning. If you have a very limited time to dedicate to project-based and thematic learning, then take the pressure off and make it a once-a-week special time for an hour or two. Your kids will cherish this time.
What success have you had with this?
My teaching style is unique and when I have the freedom to teach like every teacher really wants to, my students become unlimited. They start to read and write like they never have before. They start to embrace learning as if they never want the school day to end. My students often say, "Do we have to go home?!" I have other teachers and administrators come to me asking, how do you do this Nellie? I have former students coming back to me saying I was the best teacher they ever had, and that they learned so much! Because I'm including all of these secrets in the Teachers Inspiring Students membership, I guarantee your students and colleagues will be wowed by the magic happening in your room too!
